From this week's lecture, I have gained a deeper insight into VR.
Characteristics of Virtual Reality:
Virtual reality has three main characteristics: Immersive, interactive, and imagination.

Immersiveness means that the external environment simulated by the computer simulation system is very realistic. The user is completely involved in the three-dimensional virtual environment. It is difficult to distinguish the real from the simulated environment. Everything in the virtual environment looks real, sounds real, and even smells. It all feels real, and it feels exactly as immersive as the real world.

Interactivity means that the user can manipulate objects in the virtual world and get feedback. For example, the user can grasp an object by hand in the virtual world, the eye can perceive the shape of the object, the hand can perceive the weight of the object, and the object can also be free.

Imagination means that the virtual world has greatly broadened people's imagination in the real world. Not only can we imagine the real existence of the real world, but we can also imagine situations that do not exist or cannot happen in the objective world. According to different user immersion levels and participation methods, virtual reality can be divided into four categories: non-immersive virtual reality, immersive virtual reality, distributed virtual reality system, and augmented virtual reality system.
Introduction to Unity:
Unity3D is a multi-platform comprehensive game development tool developed by Unity Technologies that allows you to easily create interactive content such as 3D video games, architectural visualization, and real-time 3D animation. It is a fully integrated professional game engine.
For me personally, I think using Unity is a challenge because I am not a person who is particularly good at using software. In this week's class, the teacher took us to go through Unity's basics. Because everyone is a beginner, the progress is slow and I can keep up. We made an animation of dropping a small object, and when it was done, I can felt a sense of accomplishment because it made me feel excited about learning new skills. The small clip on the left shows what I made in this class.
