From time to time

The clouds give rest

To the moon-be holders.

A Universe in your brain
poster1.jpg

Technique:

1. Golden Ratio

2. Hierarchy: Weight and Scale

3. Similarity

4. Closure

5. Area

6. Proximity

Statement of intent:

What I did well in this poster is that I can use all the techniques I learned in class well, for example, the big circles are distributed by the golden ratio, and by proximity, people can identify my curves into circles, it also creates an illusion of looking like a sphere. However, I still need to improve on my hierarchy, it might be because of being in black and white, it is hard for people to focus on one point on my poster, although I used the difference in size to help build some weight and scale hierarchy. I have also used elements of this poster to be my signifier to signify the brain.

Destiny Voyager

Technique:

1. Law of thirds

2. Colour schemes

3. Semiotics

4. Proximity

Statement of intent:

The Law of thirds was used to determine where my character is placed and where the city is placed, it makes the whole poster look more coordinated. The main colour I used for the poster is brown, I changed the value of brightness and darkness of the same colour to make the poster cleaner, it also helps me to highlight the character, the title, and the city. The boat acts as a signifier, it signifies the concept of perplexed and it helps the character to find her way. The lantern signifies the hope, as it creates light and brings hope. For typography, I choose to use proximity where the unimportant bits are at the very bottom of the poster, and the title is the biggest so others will see the title first, then seeing the publish date.

Her Life

Technique:

1.Repetition

2. Similarity

3. Proximity

Statement of intent:

This is a very clear and simple storyboard. The repetition is used in every grid, the background is all the same meaning that the scene is set in a specific place which is a little pond. The colour of lotus leaves changes in the middle column representing different seasons, so although the background looks similar they are different in meaning. The main theme is the life of the woman, from birth to death, she came back to the pond during different stages in her life, that includes growing up and getting old. However, the pond remains the same and will not change, after she died she turned into another lotus waiting to blossom.
